Audemars Piguet Dress Watch
Audemars Piguet Dresswatch
This Audemars Piguet from the 1970s is an honest witness from an era when the manufacture from Le Brassus was celebrated for ultra-thin dresswatches, long before the Royal Oak redefined the brand. The round 34 mm yellow gold case is slim, understated, and wears with the quiet confidence that only true vintage dresswatches have. The vertically brushed champagne dial with applied baton indices and fine black hands is reduced to the essentials: hours, minutes, nothing more is needed.
Inside ticks the famous Audemars Piguet caliber 2001/1A, an ultra-thin hand-wound movement regulated in five positions. The movement number 168402 combined with the case number B25391 allows clear dating to the early 70s. The 18k yellow gold hallmark (750) and the Swiss H+T gold control mark inside the case confirm authenticity.
The watch presents itself in an honest vintage condition. The dial shows a beautiful, even patina with fine spotting as well as slight oxidation marks on the edge between 5 and 6 o’clock, which authentically tell the watch’s story. The case is very well preserved, with clear contours and a warm gold surface.
