When the Swatch Group announced the collaboration between its most accessible and its most exclusive brand in 2023, the queues were long and opinions divided. Today, with some distance, it is clear: what has emerged here is more than a marketing stunt. It is a serious automatic watch with a Swiss movement that translates the design heritage of the legendary Fifty Fathoms – the world’s first modern dive watch – into a democratic format.

The "Atlantic Ocean" version comes in a continuous, rich blue that extends from the bioceramic case to the unidirectional rotating dive bezel and the crown. The deep blue sunburst dial with a grainy texture features applied Arabic numerals at 3, 6, 9, and 12 o’clock as well as triangular luminous indices – a direct reference to the classic Fifty Fathoms. The broad hands filled with luminous material in the typical Blancpain style ensure excellent legibility, while the "SCUBA Fifty Fathoms" inscription and the depth rating "91m/300ft" emphasize the sporty character.

The screwed see-through case back is a real highlight: through the glass, the Swiss automatic movement with 19 jewels is visible, framed by a colorful underwater illustration with sea creatures and the inscription "ATLANTIC OCEAN." This loving detail sets the Scuba Fifty Fathoms apart from pure fashion collaborations and gives it a playful depth that invites discovery.

This example is in good overall condition. The case, bezel, and dial are free of damage. The mineral glass shows some light scratches that occurred during everyday wear – a known weak point of the Scuba Fifty Fathoms, which can be fixed by glass replacement if needed. The original NATO strap in dark blue with light blue and white stripes, as well as the blue "Fifty Fathoms" clasp, is intact and shows no significant wear.
