The Breitling Superocean 44 Special Blacksteel is a diver's watch that knows no compromises. Where other manufacturers stop at 200 or 300 meters of water resistance, the Superocean 44 Special only begins: 1000 meters – a depth no sport diver ever reaches, but one that unmistakably defines the ambition of this watch. The Blacksteel version goes one step further and dresses the entire instrument in a black DLC coating (Diamond-Like Carbon), which not only gives the stainless steel a stealthy, military look but also offers significantly higher scratch resistance than conventional PVD coatings.

The deep black dial is designed for maximum readability under the harshest conditions. Large, applied rectangular luminous indices with framed metal surrounds and broad hands ensure that the time can be read at a glance even in the darkness of open water. The inner 24-hour ring allows distinction between day and night – a detail that can be vital underwater or in polar regions. The framed date window at 3 o'clock, the red arrow seconds hand, and the distinctive "superocean" inscription in Breitling's characteristic italic font add subtle accents without disturbing functional clarity. The unidirectional rotating diver's bezel with a luminous dot at 12 o'clock and cream-colored indices picks up the vintage tone of the Super-LumiNova and gives the uncompromising Blacksteel look a touch of warmth.

The watch is in excellent condition. The case and DLC coating are almost flawless, the dial is impeccable, and the black Breitling rubber strap with DLC-coated pin buckle (Breitling wing logo) shows minimal signs of wear. A serious instrument in full equipment – rare in this combination and condition.
