Longines Conquest Ultronic 1533
Longines Conquest Ultronic Ref. 1533
At the beginning of the 1970s, the Swiss watch industry was looking for an answer to the electronic revolution. Longines found it in the tuning fork. The Conquest Ultronic Ref. 1533 does not tick; it hums. Inside, it houses calibre 6312, based on the ESA 9162. An oscillating tuning fork powers the watch, allowing the seconds hand to glide across the dial almost silently and smoothly. For collectors, the Ultronic movement is a fascinating chapter and a brief but exciting interlude between mechanical and quartz technology.
The design is a pure statement of the 1970s. A cushion-shaped stainless steel case with a matte finish, measuring approximately 36 mm, frames a silver-brushed dial. Faceted, applied indices rise in relief above the white minute track with its distinctive radial scale. They are joined by the applied Longines logo with winged hourglass, luminous hands with black surrounds, and a day-date display at 3 o'clock. The watch appears both technical and architectural. Worn on the black leather strap, it is classic and confident.
The watch is in an honest vintage condition. The case shows clear signs of wear in the form of scratches and small dents. The acrylic crystal also shows signs of use. The luminous material has aged and is unevenly distributed on the index at 10 o'clock. Overall, this is an authentic witness to its time that openly displays its history.
