The Omega Seamaster Polaris is one of the boldest design statements ever made by a Swiss watch manufacturer. In the late 1980s, when the industry was still grappling with the aftermath of the quartz crisis, Omega presented a watch that fit neither the classic nor the sporty category. The Polaris was a promise of the future: an analog-digital hybrid in a sculptural case that defied every convention. The geometric 18-carat gold inlays that run through the brushed stainless steel case like an architectural pattern remain unique in the watch industry to this day, making the Polaris instantly recognizable on any wrist.

The deep black dial keeps the analog side deliberately minimalist: luminous dots mark the hours, slender gold-plated baton hands show the time. No date or complication disturbs the symmetry of the upper half of the dial. The lower half, however, reveals a digital LCD display when activated, which the caliber 1665 unlocks with eight different display modes: alarm, chronograph, countdown timer, and other functions are available at the push of a button. Omega called it the "watch with eight faces" – a fitting nickname for a piece that adapts to every situation.

This example is in an honest vintage condition that authentically reflects its approximately 35 years on the wrist. The 18-carat gold bezel and gold inlays in the case show the typical fine hairline scratches of a worn timepiece, without deeper damage. The dial is flawless, and the luminous dots have aged evenly to a warm cream tone. The integrated steel/gold bracelet with Omega-signed folding clasp fits snugly and shows normal signs of wear on the gold links. The sapphire crystal is scratch-free. A rare collector’s piece from an era when Omega took design risks now regarded as visionary.
