The Omega Speedmaster Mark V is one of the best-kept secrets of the Speedmaster family. It was produced only from 1984 to 1988 and was intended exclusively for the European market. The Mark V was therefore the continental European counterpart to the Mark 4.5 for the US market. Hidden beneath the case back, however, is the real sensation: Calibre 1045—the Omega version of the legendary Lemania 5100.
This automatic chronograph movement was used by air forces worldwide—including the German Air Force and the Italian Aeronautica Militare—for military pilot’s chronographs due to its robustness, and is now regarded as one of the finest chronograph movements ever built.

The distinguishing feature of the Lemania 5100, the central minute counter, can also be seen here on the dial: an additional hand next to the chronograph seconds hand that displays the elapsed chronograph minutes directly in the center. A detail that makes the watch practically unbeatable for everyday use. Surrounding it are three classic sub-dials (24-hour display at 12 o’clock, small seconds at 9 o’clock, and 12-hour totalizer at 6 o’clock), as well as the day/date window with German day display at 3 o’clock. The solid stainless steel case, with its angular flanks flowing into the integrated bracelet, is pure 1980s design and is framed by a brushed tachymeter bezel.

The watch is presented in very good vintage condition, with fine signs of wear and polishing appropriate to its age on the case and bracelet. The dial is flawless, and the tritium indices have developed an even, warm cream-colored patina. The chronograph and all functions operate perfectly. Particularly valuable: the watch is supplied as a Full Set with its original Omega box and original International Guarantee card—an exceptional, technically significant Speedmaster beyond the usual Moonwatch references.
