Seiko Chronograph "Reverse Panda"
Seiko Quartz Chronograph "Reverse Panda"
The Seiko 7A28 made watch history in 1983: it was the world's first analog quartz chronograph with independently controllable hands and is now considered a technical design icon of the early 1980s. This example in the sought-after "Reverse Panda" configuration combines the black dial with three contrasting silver subdials at 9 o'clock (20-minute counter), 3 o'clock (1/10-second display), and 6 o'clock (small seconds), giving it the look that today ranks among the most sought-after configurations of the series.
Inside works the legendary caliber 7A28 with 15 jewels, a masterpiece of Japanese engineering that revolutionized the quartz world: instead of a single stepper motor, the movement uses four, enabling an unprecedented range of functions and precision. The angular tonneau-shaped 40 mm stainless steel case with integrated steel bracelet, inlaid black resin elements, and tachymeter bezel brings the unmistakable space-age character of the era to the wrist.
The watch presents itself in an honest, well-preserved vintage condition. The dial with greenish aged tritium lume is very well preserved, the case shows age-related wear on the back and bracelet. A characterful design icon of the early quartz era, worn with an honest, unvarnished vintage appearance.
